Died 14th January 1889. A member of a very old Accrington family. Founder of the works in Paradise Street(later at Spring Hill) perpetuating his name. He was a man of business and a good sport. In his early days he worked in a cotton mill and subsequently was an overlooker at Park Mill, at which his father Jacob Bridge was a cashier. Later he entered the iron trade and began business as a tin plate worker in the cellar of his shop with one workman. His son Mr. Jacob Bridge (Jake) who died age 37 left his wealth to be divided between Blackburn Orphanage, the Accrington Technical School and the Swedenborgian Church.
