General notes

Early records of Heasandford show that Richard, son of Griffin, granted 40 acres of land to Oliver de Stansfield, who had been constable of Pontefract Castle. To Heasandford, De Lacy added Worsthorne, with all rents and services of its inhabitants. For all his estates in Heasandford and Worsthorne, Oliver de Stansfield paid 2d. a year in rent! No doubt the lands were originally granted for services rendered. Oliver lives at Heasandford House, and it is believed that part of the original 13th century building still remains. He became a Member of Parliament for Lancaster, and was buried in St. Peter's Church.
Heasandford passed by marriage to the Haydocks in 1532. The Haydock arms are over the main doorway.
