Mr Lawrence Brotherton , JP, was a native of Sabden who became attached to the old Burnley Advertiser in 1880. The Advertiser was later merged into the Burnley Express, which was at that time owned by Sir John O.S Thursby , Baronet. Mr Brotherton became Editor-Manager of the Burnley Express from 1890 to 1933.
