General notes
The Billiards Team were an Eccleston institute, photographed here, victorious, in about 1950. Known names are as follows: Mr. I. Sagar, front row 2nd from left. Mr. A. Ashcroft (the grandfather of Charlie Ashcroft, Liverpool footballer), back row 3rd from right.

The photo was taken in the school field, with the rear of the school visible in background. Buildings from left to right are as follows: Boys' toilets, gable end of large classroom, cloakroom, girls' toilets. The toilet facilities were "the emptying kind" and the cart came once a week to empty them. They were in use until around 1950.
