Pictured outside Rosedale, Hawthorne Rd., Burnley, home of Thomas Crook cotton manufacturer, on Tuesday 28.7.1908, as reported in Burnley Gazette 29.7.1908 p. 5, the Brunswick congregation held a garden party in aid of their annual Christmas Tree appeal. Rev. Alfred Chadwick thanked Mr. Crook for his kind welcome. Rev. Chadwick was appointed minister at Brunswick in August 1907 when his portrait appeared in the Burnley Express of 21.5.07 p 5 which indicates he is probably the gentleman with dark hair and full beard standing in front of the doorway, to the left. He was 50 years of age in 1908. Rosedale was in earlier times known as Temperance Cottage, and still stands. There are notes on its history in Burnley Library Local History section.
