This lane can be followed up past Bacup Cricket Field to Sharneyford. A plaque on the wall of a house near the bottom of the land commenmorated the visit of John Wesley to Bacup and bears the following inscription:- Here stood the first methodist Chapel in Rossendal where Wesley preached in A.D.1761 and later.
