It is worth comparing this image with 269654 which describes the remains of an ancient cross pedestal (Hardhill Cross) can be found along the roman road near to Mitton Hall. These images have similarities, but one has a more solid pediment and they are located in different settings. It is believed that this was the base of a cross.
