General notes
St Marys Church in Church Street. The earliest record of a church on this site is 1122. The tower and the east window date from the 13th century. The rest of the church was built between 1828 and 1829 by Thomas Rickman and Henry Hutchinson. In 1844 the spire was added to the tower. It was restored again in 1881 by architects Paley and Austin. The spire was restored again in 2013 because of erosion. Photograph shows the Norman archway.
