General notes
Dr Wilson was best known locally as the Master of the Slaidburn Grammar School (1772-5) then Clitheroe Grammar School (1775-79). He wrote several learned books including an Archaeological Dictionary and was known as a "versifier", raconteur and wit.
He died 3/3/1813, when he was 67 and is buried in the chancel of Bolton-by-Bowland Church. A monument tablet there was copied and set up in the Clitheroe Parish Church by his former pupils.

The Buck collection (ECL20140128007) offers a picture of Dr Wilson's house on Parson Brow, Clitheroe.
