General notes
The photograph shows a drawing of the house in Parson Lane, Clitheroe, which was the residence of Dr. Thomas Wilson. Dr Wilson was best known as the Master of the Slaidburn Grammar School (1772-5) then Clitheroe Grammar School (1775-79). He wrote several learned books including an Archaeological Dictionary and was known as a "versifier", raconteur and wit. He died 3/3/1813, when he was 67 and is buried in the chancel of Bolton-by-Bowland church. A monument tablet there was copied and set up in the Clitheroe Parish Church by his former pupils.
