General notes
The Old Hall, Downham, sits beside Heys Brook (seen on the left of the image) near the centre of the village. The building is reached via the side road from Main Street opposite the primary school. As the seat of the Asshetons, the Lords of the Manor, it was replaced in 1835 by the current Hall, built on the site of a sixteenth century building.
