General notes
This shows the Ribble as it flows past Hothersall Hall, which was the residence of the Hothersall family (as Lords of the Manor) since before the Norman invasion in 1066. The family can be traced in detail to 1853 when it became extinct and sold to Johnathan Openshaw who pulled the Old Hall down and built the present house in Gothic style. In 1988 after many changes in ownership and becoming run down it was bought and restored as a family home.
