General notes

The land beside the River Ribble around the present Brungerly Bridge, was laid out as a public park in 1876. Buck made a number of photographs showing the various uses of the park. These included strolling and relaxing, but the river's usually slow progress and shallow depth made it a regular venue for ice-skating in winter and boating in summer.
