General notes
Robert Munn's chemist shop was located at the corner of St. James's Street and Water Street. The business was probably started in the 1830's by Robert, who had previously been employed as a linen draper. Not only was he a druggist, but he also registered births, marriages and deaths. He passed the business on to his son, also named Robert (born 1827) upon his death in 1853.

The shop was demolished in c1895, as part of a scheme to widen St. James's Street. At this point the business relocated to Nicholas Street. Not long after, Bob retired and lived out the rest of his life at his home on Westgate, being cared for by his servants.
