This photograph shows the junction of Rossendale Road, Rosegrove Lane and Accrington Road.

Despite being a major junction since the 18th century, the development of houses and business (including Willie Holt's Billiard Table Manufacturers, seen here) didn't start to occur here until the early 20th century. This was due to the expansion of Rosegrove's railway yard and the transformation of Back Lane into Rossendale Road, which was part of a wider arterial road network.
