In 1927, due to the extension of Queen Victoria Road, the memorial in the park was moved to its current location. for more information see photograph 33358.

The construction of Queen's Park commenced in 1891. It was built on land donated by Sir John Hardy Thursby. During the two year construction process, 27,500 trees and shrubs were planted. A number of features were added to the park. These included a bowling green, a putting green, tennis courts and a bandstand.
