Aqueduct Street derived its name from the 'Straight Mile' of the Leeds-Liverpool canal that ran parallel to it. In this photograph one can make out the electricity works on the left. In the mid 1970's this section of the street was demolished to make way for a fly-over and was renamed Centenary Way.
