General notes

Burnley Market Hall opened on the 1st January 1870. The foundation stone had been laid four years earlier on the 25th October 1866. Unfortunately, the hall lasted less than a century, being demolished in 1966 during a major town centre re-development programme. It can be seen here decked out for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
