General notes
The Marshall Branch library was opened on the 23rd February 1914. The building was offered to the corporation by former local councillor William Marshall. It was situated in what was known as Ruskin Hall on Trafalgar Street. Issues of books were strong, until they started to steadily decline in the 1950's. This, along with rising damp caused by its proximity to the canal, led to the decision to close it in 1970. The building itself was later demolished.
