Benjamin Bell started this greengrocer's shop at 4 Hebrew Road (originally Rake Head) in c1850. After his death in 1858, the running of the business was passed on to his daughter Sarah. The shop continued trading until c1884. During this period, shops in this area of Burnley were very closely linked to Hebrew Hall and the religious community that surrounded it.
