Field Marshal Lord Roberts VC visited Lancaster on 29th July 1904. His tour of the town included the Regimental Chapel where he officially unveiled the Memorial Brass to the fallen of the Regiment in the South African (Boer) War 1899-1902 and a stained glass memorial window to Lieutenant Colonel Gawne, killed at Vryheid in December 1900.
Seen here outside St. Mary's (the Priory) Church which houses the regimental chapel.
