General notes
User comments: 'I think this photo was taken around 1900 to 1910. The Procession has come down Lord Street from St. Paul's Church on Catlow Hall Street and is emerging here onto Union Road. On the right is the side of the former Town Hall for the Oswaldtwistle Urban District Council. The building also used to incorporate the Fire Station. More recently the building has been used as a Civic Arts Centre for Hyndburn Borough and is due to undergo refurbishment (2024).

The houses on the square formed by Haworth street, Lord Street, Sun Street and Union Road were demolished decades ago. Peel Court Old People's Home (Lancashire County Council) stood on the site for about 25 years but now (2024) there is a modern, private nursing home known as Pendle Brook.

St. Paul's Church is now part of the Parish of Oswaldtwistle, along with Immanuel Church (New Lane) and All Saints' (Aspen Lane). The Parish still holds an Annual 'Procession of Witness' on a Sunday in June, but not of this magnitude!

St. Paul's still has a Primary School, further down Union Road, near the Oswaldtwistle Mills Shopping Village.

The Church also still has all the Uniformed Organisations - Scouts, Guides and the younger groups - which meet at the Scout Hut at Mill Hill/Straits (rear of Tesco Express).' 02/04/2024.
