Taken from Manchester road facing Spring Cottage, looking N.E. towards Nelson Centre.
Shops on left are No.138 (Mrs. S.H. Keable - Milliner), 136 (Miss I. Croasdale - Confectioner), 134 (J. Hollinrake - Tailor), 132 (J.J. Connor - Jeweler).
No. 130 was J. Lonsdale the registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. (Now demolished.)
On the far side of Lomeshaye road is No. 126, at the time of the image it was run by J. Catlow - Grocer.
The Spire of St Mary's Church can be seen behind the buildings on the left. It was added to the church in 1908.
In the centre of the road, an electric tram is making its way along the road.
The tram lines were added around 1900.
On the right of the image is No. 129 (Bottomley's Ltd Clothiers). This would later be the site of the Star Cycle Club.
On the near right side of the image an Art Deco Style Garage would be built in the 1930s.
