Stansfield Ogden came to live in Nelson in 1884 and established a confectionery business at 87 Scotland Road. He later extended the business and occupied premises at 29 and 129 Scotland Road. He also built the Assembly Rooms on Scotland Road. Mr Ogden's son took the business over after his retirement, but later sold it to rival Colne based firm W.H. Oddie, who were still baking from 129 in 2008.
One of his daughters married a Mr Ormerod and formed Ogden & Ormerod Estate Agents in Nelson.
