General notes

Close to Lyons Lane railway bridge, this row of property was known as 'pisspot row'. The archway down the side the street led to a common back yard. The row had obviously been built when 'petties' were shared in everybody's backyard. The urine was added to Mill Lodge water to atrengthen the cotton fibres and was collected in a urine tub on a trolley. an example of the trolley can be seen at Helmshore Mill.
