New Street froM Lord Street, was a narrow early 18th century passage which led from the Market Square to Lord Street, over a site nowowccupied by the cenotaph and the post office. It was described in 1882 as being in crazy condition. All the property was demolished in November and December 1893. The building on the left were offered for sale at a nominal 5 pounds on condition the purchaser demolishit and remove the rubble within a month, across the square beyond new street you can see the Town hALL.
