This evocative photograph of Back Lane was taken from a spot approximately at the junction of Market Street and Earl Street looking towards Market Square, Most of the property was demolished in 1895 to construct Market Street, Rigby's the pawnbrokers was founded in 1805. The wrought iron support for the shop sign originally supported on of the lamps suspended on the sides of the obelisk in its later years.
