The Ashton Memorial is a folly in Williamson Park, Lancaster built between 1907 and 1909 by the millionaire industrialist Lord Ashton in memory of his second wife, Jessy, at a cost of over £80,000 (equivalent to £7.7 million in 2016).
At the time of it's building, it was simply known locally as 'The structure'.
