General notes
Oakleigh was originally built as the residence of Abraham Altham, the founder of Althams Travel. Originally they were importers of tea so Oakleigh was colloquially known as Teapot Hall. The reverse of the image states that at the time of the photograph it was the residence of Mr & Mrs Joe Nelson. It became the offices of the Burnley Rural District Council and latterly the Oaks Hotel.
The garden party was held to raise funds for Reedyford Hospital.
