General notes
Five Arches railway viaduct, railway line and part of signal box on right.
The mill was run for many years by James Bullough. When living in Baxenden, he built what came to be known as Bullough Row and he resided in the end house. He invariably wore clogs and a top hat, and was a great favourite amongst the children. One of his inventions, the "slasher" was first worked in Shoe Mill. The mill was burnt down in 1868.
