Burnley Express 3.10.1936 p 13 reports that the service was due to commence on Monday 5th October, with a choice of books to rival "the most expensive subscription library". The van was advertised to be in a different area from 5.30 to 8 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, a three note horn would be sounded to indicate its arrival at the stopping places. The detachable trailer is pulled by a 3 wheeled Scammell 3 ton "Mechanical Horse", which came into production in 1934.
