General notes

Rear of houses on North side of Higher Green. The grassed area is now part of the Jean Stansfield Memorial Park.
Many of these houses have been demolished and some replaced.
The single storey modern building with the numerous rectangular pains of glass on the left of the picture was built in the 1960s and was a hairdresser's shop. This too has been demolished.
Picture originally incorrectly titled but did have the following information:-
"The area of Lower Green is much changed. Once the chosen spot for Maypole Dancing, it was Poulton's 'Village Green'".
The Green was in fact on the corner of Lower Green & Station Road.
