Lytham St Annes Warship Week, Clifton Square, Lytham
Lytham
Warship weeks were events held right across the country when local communities worked for the British National Savings Campaign so that a city, town or village could adopt a warship to help with the war effort during WW2. This image comes from an album that was presented to Mr Arthur Kay by the Mayor of Lytham St Annes, Councillor Lindsay Dobson JP in April 1942. Arthur Kay was the Honorary Secretary of the Local War Savings Committee for Lytham St Annes.

During Warship Week Lytham St Annes raised over £700,000 for the destroyer HMS Queenborough.

This image shows the indicator ceremony at Lytham.
