Brabins old school house can be seen in the middle of the image with the Almshouses to the right. These are 17th Century buildings with the Almshouses being built for the poor widows of the parish through a charity left by John Brabin when he died in 1683. The school was built in 1684 for the poor children o the town. Brabin also left his dictionary and bible to the school.
