Thompson Park Conservatory, Burnley
Burnley
Thompson Park opened on the 16th July 1930. It was funded by the Thompson bequest and designed by Arthur Race. It was more ornamental than Burnley's other parks containing amongst other things, an Italian garden, a range of flower beds and the very popular boating lake.

This photograph shows the conservatory, which was demolished in 1975. In its hey day, this fine glass house contained a fish pond and waterfall. It was famously damaged by a German bomb in World War 2.
