Lawrence Dobson was the Proprietor of the Preston Chronicle from 1840. He retired in 1859 and was succeeded by his two sons. He died in 1865. From left: unknown boy, Robert Dobson, Mrs Dobson, Lawrence Dobson, James Dobson, Miss Dobson (later Mrs Edward Grubb), James Edward Dobson, William Dobson. James Edward was the last in the family business. He moved to London in 1892 and died in 1946.
