General notes

Huntroyde Hall was originally constructed in 1576 by Edmund Starkie. Various extensions and alterations were made over the next four centuries, most notably the construction of mock battlements in 1789 and the errection of the tower in 1868. In c1970 a large portion of the house was demolsihed to make maintainance easier. The Starkie family sold the hall to private owners in 1983, but kept the surrounding land under their control.
