User Comments: 'The photo features Richard Roughley and Mrs Cheetham and is dated around 1910. Richard is my grandfather. He eventually bought the bakery and was known locally as 'Dickie Bread'. My dad, Brian took the shop over as a grocers in the late 1940's and ran it until 1968 when Skelmersdale Development Corporation placed a compulsory purchase order on the shop and the Bowling Green pub. It was demolished around this time. This was also the village post office in the early 1900's. The area was known as Digmoor Green.' 24/12/2023.
