Edward Arrowsmith (1585-1628) was one of the fifteen 'Lancaster Catholic Martyrs'.
Executed at the Castle in 1628, he was beatified in 1929 and canonized in 1970.
The Blue Anchor was on Hoghton Lane opposite Quaker Brook Lane.
