General notes
Saint Margaret's Church, Hornby. Pevsner rates the church one of the most striking in North Lancashire with an octoganal tower unique within Lancashire. There was a chapel on the site from the 13th century, but the tower was built by Sir Edward Stanley, owner of the Hornby estate, to commemorate the battle of Flodden (1513) in which he took part.
