General notes
Opened Oct 1852 by East Lancashire Railway. Closed 5th December 1966.
However the photo is taken looking down the valley towards Waterfoot.
On the left is the signal box, controlling the level crossing over Blackwood Road.
The locomotive in the photo is a Standard Class 4 Tank no. 80038 which was built in 1952 and is carrying a 1950s livery used from 1949 to 1956.
